How to compare a photo

  1. Choose one authorized JPG, PNG, or WebP showing one cat.
  2. Select Identify my cat to send the processed image for comparison.
  3. Review the leading comparison, two alternatives, three observations, and their limits.

What the identifier does

The identifier compares a cat’s visible appearance with a local catalog of 20 pedigreed profiles and two domestic coat categories. A successful analysis returns one leading comparison, two alternatives, and three visible observations. It works in the browser without an account or an installed app.

The service is free to the visitor and subject to per-IP usage limits. People sharing a connection share a quota. Availability, model behavior, and connection quality can affect completion and timing. No accuracy percentage has been established for this small prototype.

How photo recognition reaches the page

The server checks the file type, actual decodable contents, byte size, and pixel count. It removes image metadata and creates a smaller JPEG in memory before sending that image to DeepSeek. This site does not put uploads in a gallery, database, or object-storage bucket.

The model selects catalog slugs and predefined visual-observation identifiers. The server checks the response against the local catalog, removes unknown and duplicate matches, and normalizes the three valid similarity scores. Insufficient or malformed results cause an explicit failure rather than fabricated replacements. Names and explanations displayed in the result come from controlled local text.

Supported breed profiles

The list below is the actual set of available comparisons, not a promise to recognize every cat. Domestic Shorthair and Domestic Longhair are included as descriptive coat categories, not as registry-recognized pedigreed breeds. Each pedigree profile links to its reference source.

Breed standards describe typical appearance. Individual cats, young cats, and mixed cats may not show those features clearly. The catalog is intentionally bounded so the application can validate every returned breed name instead of publishing arbitrary model-generated labels.

Accuracy and confidence limits

The bars describe relative similarity among the selected profiles. They sum to 100%, but they are not calibrated probabilities of correct breed identification. They also do not represent percentages of ancestry. A different photograph of the same cat can produce a different ordering.

A few successful API calls show that the connection and result format work. They do not establish population-level accuracy. The tool cannot replace pedigree documentation, genetic testing, a veterinarian’s examination, or a professional assessment. Use it as an explained starting point for curiosity.

Questions about this photo tool

What happens to an unknown model breed?

The server discards any slug outside the local catalog. If fewer than three valid distinct matches remain, the analysis fails clearly rather than filling in unsupported guesses.

Does 70% mean a 70% chance of being purebred?

No. It is a relative similarity score normalized across the three selected candidates, not a calibrated pedigree probability.

Does the site keep my photo?

This application processes uploads in memory without saving a photo. DeepSeek receives the processed image and has separate data-processing terms; see the privacy explanation before uploading.

Share a photo with care

This site processes uploads in memory and sends a metadata-stripped image to DeepSeek. It does not save uploads or create public result pages. The provider has its own processing and retention terms. Do not include private details or photographs you lack permission to share.
