Cat Weight Calculator
Weight alone does not tell the whole story. Combine a healthy adult cat’s current weight with a physically assessed 1–9 body condition score for a rough reference.

Method and eligible cats
AAHA’s nutrition guideline treats body condition scores 4–5/9 as the ideal band and maps scores 6, 7, 8, and 9 to approximately 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% overweight. For scores above 5, this tool divides current weight by one plus that proportion. It returns a reference estimate, not a prescribed weight-loss target.
For scores 4–5, the tool reports current weight as the reference. For scores 1–3 it does not calculate a target: an individual assessment is needed. A score of 9 can include cats beyond the simple table’s range. Muscle condition is separate from body condition and can change interpretation.
Assess condition, not a photograph
Body condition scoring involves looking and feeling, including the ribs and waist. Use a score assessed with your veterinarian and consult the linked scoring guidance. A photo identifier and a breed name cannot supply this score or prove a healthy weight.
This calculator is limited to healthy, nonpregnant adult cats. Growing kittens, pregnant or nursing cats, sick cats, and cats with muscle loss need individual assessment. It does not set calorie intake, recommend a diet, or give a rate of weight loss. Do not change feeding based on this estimate alone.
